This innovative non-destructive method of cleaning pipes have been developed with Richard Christopher, Pipeline Testing Consultants.

The unit uses a low water volume and compressed air. The pressure gradient creates a vortex that cleans the pipe interior without causing damage. The low water volume allow the unit to be self contained and the discard catchment unit ensures an easy mess free process.

Richard Christopher, Pipeline Testing Consultants, went through the key components of the unit with our United Utilities visitors – Steve Quarmby, Innovation Engineering Mananger, Jeremy Knox, Engineering Manager – Water Networks, and Mike Batty Technical Specialist – Technical Services. For the demonstration a section of clear pipe was put in line so that the cleaning vortex could be seen.

Initial plans are for the unit to be installed for field testing during May….watch this space for further updates.
